Students' Code of Conduct

Namaste : (Meaning)With all the strength in my body, with all the love & respect in my heart and With all the wisdom in my mind, I bow down to the pure soul within you. This is our Vedic & age old Arya tradition to say Namaste, with folded hands, when we meet our teacher or classmate or anybody for the first time during a particular day. We should again say Namaste when we finally take leave of each other on a particular day. Whenever we enter DAV premises we must, with folded hands say Namaste to anybody and everybody. Your Namaste will tell others that you belong to a cultured family. Not only this even on phone we should start with Namaste

DAVS S Time : In good old days Indians were very particular about the time. They were always punctual and never late. When we go to the Airport we are in time. When we go to office we are in time. When we go to bank, Post office or any Govt. office we are always in time, then why late when we go to DAV school. This must stop. From this year onwards we want to create a DAV Time which means always coming in time and never late, no matter what. So whenever you come to DAV Sanskriti School, Prepare well in advance and no excuses for being late.

Shoes : Shoes should always be kept away from Havan or Prayer area. They must be placed in line.

Back-Pack : Back-Pack is a bag of books and notebooks, pens, pencils and all the reading and writing material. All these things are means for attaining Vidyaa-the knowledge. So according to Indian culture learning material should be handled with respect. Means of Vidyaa should not go with the shoes and we should never step on learning material like back-pack etc.

Havan : Vedic Prayers for the welfare of the whole world. We all should observe absolute silence before, during and after the Havan. Participants should sit straight, with eyes closed and in meditative position.

Seating Arrangement : Always sit in an allotted place for your class and with your NS teacher. When the Havan is over quietly go to your class with your teacher.

Prasaad : Prasaad means receiving blessing of God. Receive it with respect and consume it with special regard. Even a little bit of Prasaad should not be thrown on the floor or wasted in any way. If somehow you don's want the Prasaad, don't get it in the first place or get a very little quantity and make sure even a bit of it is not wasted.

In the Classroom : All other subjects like Mathematics, English, History, Geography and so on are available anywhere in USA but what you learn here in DAVSS is no where easily available. What you learn here will certainly add a lot to your life, It will give you an identity and will make you proud of your culture and heritage. So you must be attentive in the classroom. Be inquisitive and desirous to learn. Take part in class discussion and always listen to what your teacher says.

Aarati : Aarati is final prayer at DAVSS. Keep your bags aside and never step on them. For Aarati we must be quiet and try to stand in lines. Before Aarati some announcement is made. During Aarati join your hands, close your eyes and try to be in the spirit of devotion.

Respect for Parents : Parents are next to God. So they must always be respected and their orders obeyed in all circumstances. Keep in mind if your parents are pleased with you God is pleased with you.

Respect for Teachers : Light of knowledge is much more important than the light of the Sun. Teachers are the givers of light of knowledge, so they are called as the eye openers. Parents give food for our physical body. Teachers give food for our spiritual body. In our culture teachers are always respected and their orders obeyed.

The great Indian personalities like Shree Ram, Shree Krishna, Shivaji Maharaj, Maharshi Dayanand and Swami Vivekanand also had famous teachers like Vashishtha and Vishvamitra, Sandipanai, Samartha Ramdas, Swami Virajanad and Ram Krishna ParamHans.

DAV Family : Ours is DAV family. Those learning and teaching in this family are brothers and sisters. All boys and girls studying in one class and school are brothers and sisters.

Come to Learn and Serve : We all come here to learn. But we must also have a spirit to serve. Help arrange Havan. Help to clean after the Havan. If something is wrong somewhere try to correct it or report to the teachers. Remember blessed are those who serve. DAVSS is our school and we must keep it neat, clean and tidy
